Roasted Brussel Sprouts

Have you ever had brussel sprouts? I'm sure you have seen them in restaurants, but you never tried them, right?
Brussel sprouts are a super food. They are low on calories and super high on vitamins, nutrition and antioxidants. In this recipe we bake them instead of boiling to keep the most flavor and crunch. So get your cape ready, because in less than 30 minutes you will have super hero power for dinner. 🙂

- Yields: 4 servings
1For this recipe you need about 10-15 brussel sprouts. Make sure they are bright in color with no dark spots. Even though we will peel off the outer leaves you still want to make sure they are fresh in color.
2With a small kitchen knife cut off the stem of the sprouts. Then remove a few layers of the outer leaves until you see the leaves get a little lighter and shinier in color. (About 2 layers). In the meantime preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
3When all of your brussel sprouts are peeled cut them in half on a cutting board, put them in a medium bowl and set aside.
4Get your other ingredients ready, such as the olive oil, salt and pepper.
5Drizzle the oil over the sprouts and toss them around with a kitchen spoon or spatula. Then sprinkle the salt and pepper over them and mix until everything is nicely coded.
6Prepare a baking tray with non-stick spray and spread your brussel sprouts all across. Put the tray into the oven and set the timer to 25 minutes.
7When the buzzer goes off your brussel sprouts are done.

ADDITIONAL RECIPE NOTES
For different flavor try adding some chopped fresh garlic before you roast them. Or take a few strips of bacon, chop it up and toss it around the brussel sprouts before you roast them. Or how about sprinkling some parmesan cheese on top of the roasted sprouts, putting them back into the oven for a few minutes and letting the cheese melt all over them? Hmmmm 🙂
